The past
Semalam was the last day,Arsenal main kat Highbury.Lepas ni diaorg main kat Emirates Stadium.Arsenal kalahkan Wigan 4-2, and Henry scored a hat trick.Semua penonton kena pakai t-shirt merah putih,which I think were sponsored by O2.Basically the whole stadium nampak merah putih.Sedih gak bila ref tiup last whistle pasal lepas ni there will be no more Highbury.
My love affair with Arsenal started in 1987,that time George Graham was the manager.That was also the year Arsenal won the League Cup.Masa sekolah there were only 2 teams that people supported ie Man United and Liverpool.Yours truly in tak suka nak follow orang lain so I opted to support Arsenal.During those times the only way for me to know about my favourite team was to read about them in the Malay Mail.My father was a regular reader of the paper,so I tried to pick up anything on my team.My dream was to see Highbury with my own eyes.
In 1996,my dream to see Highbury dah half tercapai cause I furthered my studies in the UK.My plan was to go to London during the summer and head off to Highbury.Tahun tu jugak Arsenal won the Premiership title and it made it even more special.August 1997,yours truly terpacak infront of the gates of Highbury.My dream dah tercapai,rasa nak nangis pun ada.My girlfriend (now my wife) geleng kepala jer.She is not a football fan but since she tries to understand me,she has also become a gunner.I hope my children will support and their children too will support the gunners at their new stadium
For some its been a fabulous 93 years,for me thank you Highbury for giving me 19 years of entertainment.
